  1. What do you do?

We offer financial planning and investment management services to clients who want on-going financial guidance from a trusted advisor to help them make smart money decisions.

We offer investment planning, retirement planning, risk management planning, tax planning, and estate planning, and we are available whenever needed to our on-going clients to help them appropriately adapt to our constantly changing economic circumstances.   1. Who does the financial planning?

Everette Orr does all the financial planning. Other financial planning firms will often re-assign you and your work from the principal advisor to an associate planner, but we have designed our firm for those who want to work directly with the principal advisor.

  1. What is your investment philosophy?

We believe that clients should have appropriately balanced and well diversified portfolios that reflect:

  1. their objectives,
  2. their willingness to bear investment risks, and
  3. their ability to bear investment risks.

We believe that markets cannot be effectively timed and that investment managers cannot consistently outperform the markets so we use passive, low-cost, no-load investments that are reviewed at least quarterly and re-balanced when needed. We use index funds and/or DFA funds (www.dfaus.com) to offer a reasoned access to market returns.

As part of our investment philosophy, we strongly believe that clients should:

  1. spend significantly less than they make,
  2. pay off all debts, and
  3. save at least six month of cash reserves for emergencies and significantly save for future obligations like retirement.

We encourage our clients to achieve these three recommendations because we believe these three personal financial behaviors significantly contribute to the likelihood of future financial success.

  1. Who are your typical clients?

Our clients are the type of people who seek professional advice in all areas of their life (financial, legal, medical, etc.) to make reasoned and measured decisions. Our clients are professionals with their own areas of specialization, and as such, they respect and value advice from other professionals with different expertise.

Our clients live successful and demanding lives so they seek professional guidance to use their limited time wisely and so they can focus most of their time on life priorities that only they can do, like their career, health, and family.

  1. Are you a fee-only financial planning firm?

Yes, we are a fee-only firm. We do not receive commissions, 12(b) fees, trailing commissions, or referral fees. Only our clients pay us.

  1. What does fee-only financial planning mean?

Fee-only planning means that only the client pays directly for the financial planning services. There are no commissions, 12(b)1 fees, trailing commissions, or referrals fees paid by a company to sell products to the client.

We believe that there are inherent conflicts when others pay an advisor to sell products to a client. The client must always consider whether a commission product is best for the salesman or best for the client as different products pay different commissions.

We are a fee-only firm so our fees are transparent and only our clients pay us. We believe that removing the commissions from the professional relationship allows an advisor to make recommendations independent of their compensation.

  1. How are you paid?

Our clients usually pay us based on their investments under management. The fees are discussed, calculated, and agreed upon before we start working together. Our minimum investment management account is $300,000. In certain circumstances, we can also offer limited financial planning projects for a flat-fee.

  1. When do you schedule meetings?

We meet during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, in certain circumstances, we can meet at other times for those have may have special needs.

  1. Where do you meet?

We normally meet in our office in McLean, Virginia, located just inside the Beltway and just off of Route 7. It is easy to find and to access. However, in certain circumstance, we can meet at other places for those have may have special needs. Directions

  1. How do I get started?

To get started, please give us a call at 703-749-1415 to discuss your needs and to answer your questions about what we do.

If you would like to schedule a complimentary “get acquainted” meeting, we will ask you to complete and bring the confidential client questionnaire to our initial meeting so that we can most effectively use our time together. The questionnaire allows us to quickly review a lot of financial areas with you. At the end of our initial meeting, you will retain the information until we start working together.
